TASTE OF HERITAGE - SESSION 2 (mULTICULTURAL AFFAIRS & CITIZENSHIP)
Pain Management - Session 5 (CHSP)
Our recent bowel cancer awareness program at MWASA was truly enlightening for our seniors! Led by the Australian Red Cross Health Educator, seniors gained essential knowledge about screening, recognizing symptoms, and the role of diet in bowel health.
Bowel cancer is Australia’s second biggest cancer killer, but early detection makes a difference—over 90% of cases can be treated successfully! Everyone aged 45 to 74 should prioritise screening, even if they have no symptoms. *Starting 1 July 2024, eligible people aged 45 to 49 can join the program and screen for free. They can request their first free bowel cancer screening kit by submitting the online form available on campaign website or calling 1800 627 701. *Eligible people aged 50 to 74 will continue to receive a free bowel cancer screening kit in the mail every 2 years. Regular screening is important as bowel cancer can occur without symptoms or family history. As you age, your chance of developing bowel cancer rises. For more info, visit Cancer Council for information in your language. (https://cancer.org.au/bowelscreening/multilingual-resources).
