SETS Youth Indoor Soccer Tournament

What a kick-off!

Our SETS Youth enjoyed the Saturday morning of April 10th participating in an energizing indoor soccer tournament; the perfect gathering before the start of the month of Ramadan.

Despite some not having played the sport before, the support from the other more experienced girls was definitely an encouragement. It gave our SETS Youth the opportunity to interact with others in their community as well as participate in something new. To see the collective team effort put into the games was amazing.

The post-game treat of pizza was definitely a good note to end the day for everyone, especially for the winning team that brought home a bag of prizes from their successful game!

During the down-time, many suggested other possible social sport they would like to participate in; it is safe to say that MWASA will definitely be holding another social sport event for our SETS Youth in the near future!

Sandwich Art and Recipes of Life for Youth

Following the discussion with the SETS* mothers who expressed concern over their teen’s screen time, Natale Rudland Wood from the Dulwich Centre conducted a session with the youths on 7th of October 2020 to discuss healthier activities to replace screen time when they are at home.

Though it was a small group, the youth were very forthcoming with great ideas and requested to be involved in collating and presenting the Recipe of Life materials.

Subsequently, the youth participated in a Sandwich Art making activity, where they cut out their sandwiches into interesting shapes. They was also a demonstration on making healthy and delicious smoothies.

Social Saturday with Manal Younus

On 19th September 2020, MWASA organised a Social Saturday with Manal Younus for the SETS* youth as an introduction to the leadership program.

As an experienced facilitator, Manal inspired the youth to develop their ideas for leadership-building experience and the youths were excited to work on projects that they were passionate about. The youth thoroughly enjoyed the discussion with Manal.
