It was wonderful hosting a Cross-Cultural training session for the students of Tatachilla Lutheran College at Marion Mosque! MWASA’s Cross-Cultural Educator, Sr. Flora Chanisheff, had discussed the topic of Islam and Muslims, and hosted a Q&A session regarding common misconceptions. We even had some students from Pinnacle College to come in and sit with the students of Tatachilla. They aided Sr Flora with answering questions from the students of Tatachilla.
Year 12 Tatachilla Lutheran and Pinnacle College students having a chat.
It was incredible to see students from both schools interact and seeing them gradually break down social barriers and chat comfortably was very heart-warming, having shared lunch afterwards was full of lively conversation! It was an incredibly eye-opening experience for both Tatachilla and Pinnacle students alike and we can’t wait to host another session.

Big thank you to Nurhayati, Filzah, and Zuhair from the Islamic Society of South Australia for assisting in organizing and hosting the session. Thank you also to the year 12 students from Tatachilla College and Pinnacle College for participating!

Last month our Cross-Cultural Educator, Flora, took students from Rostrevor College on a tour around Wandana Mosque as a part of our Unity in Diversity program.
She discussed the topic of Islam and Muslims, and answered questions regarding common misconceptions regarding them. Flora also conversed about fasting and the month of Ramadan, particularly on its importance and the difficulties associated with it.
It was an informative session that allowed the students to walk away more informed and with a better understanding of the importance of having Unity in Diversity.
Thank you to Wandana Mosque for hosting us and to Rostrevor College for attending!
